Friday night's game against the Perry Pirates was dominated by the offenses from both teams, but Perry prevailed thanks to a trick play early in the 4th quarter. The Lions seemed to control the game for the first three quarters by staying 2 scores ahead of the Pirates. The Pirates slowed down the Lions slightly in the 3rd quarter and were able to jump ahead. With about 10 minutes left in the 4th, Perry's offense turned to look at the sideline while they were lined up. While Perry's coaches acted as if they were instructing their players, the center, the QB, and one WR jumped into action and scored the go ahead touchdown. Orange came back to score, but it would not be enough as Perry took the clock all the way down to the 2 minute mark. Orange's final drive could not muster up a first down. Senior Will Carter continued his stellar play. He caught 7 passes for 195 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior Chad Sonkin had a handful of catches and runs including a 20 yard catch for the final touchdown of the game. Sophomore QB Stephen Borgman was 17-24 for 275 yards and 4 TD's with no interceptions. Senior RB Chris Wilson opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 44 yard TD run taht was sprung by great blocking by the offensive line. Next up for the Lions are the Aurora Greenmen.
