Lions Continue Making History

1 week after beating one conference opponent for the first time in nearly 20 years, the Orange Lions defeated Wickliffe to erase more bad history. The 38-14 win gives the Lions their first back-to-back conference victories in the rough-and-tumble CVC in 23 years! The defense continued their increasingly solid performance to lead the Lions. Senior Tashawn Chavis continues to have the breakout year that many expected. He scored his first touchdown as he read a screen pass perfectly, intercepted the pass, and scampered 25 yards to the endzone! Senior Charles Parks led the Lions in tackles with a career-best 22. Despite Wickliffe's ball-control offense, the game never seemed in doubt after the first whistle. Senior WR/RB/Safety Chad Sonkin had 123 yards of offense (receiving and rushing) while adding 1 TD rushing and 1 TD receiving. Senior Will Carter pulled within 1 TD of the school record with his 9th of the year. Junior Dae'Shawn Henderson added a late rushing TD to ice the game. Sophomore Stephen Borgman continued his excellent 2012 campaign with a 229 yard, 2 TD effort that set a new school TD record and puts him within a couple completions of the school passing yardage record. Next up for the Lions is a huge battle against neighboring Chagrin Falls.
