3/29/13 Winter Update
Post date: Mar 29, 2013 7:35:16 PM
The Lions' 2013 preparations have been in full swing for several months. A great mix of returning and young players have benefited from a maximum of 37 workouts to date.
Congratulations to junior Peter Healey for hitting 37 of 37 workouts! A few other Lions deserve a shout-out for some consistency: Michael Henderson, Ben Weltman, Grant Auletta, Maurice Frazier, DaeShawn Henderson, and Rhonald Houston.
We have had 2 Iron Man tests, which tests total weight lifted in Front Squat, Hang Clean, Bench Press, and Back Squat. 4 Lions reached the Iron Man goal of 1000 pounds, including 2 first-timers. Michael and DaeShawn Henderson continued their streaks of hitting the mark, while Maurice Frazier and Chris Von Hendrix joined the club for the first time.
All of the coaches have been hard at work attending clinics and breaking down film from last year to improve upon some solid performances. Everyone is pointed towards early June when the 2013 Lions will take the field for the first time for mini-camp.
Two more congratulations are in order, this time for former football Lions. First, to Senior Kurren Bafna and his Team Shanghai for placing 2nd in the state of Ohio in the Mock Trial Competition. Secondly, to senior Will Carter for winning the indoor state long jump championship with a school record effort!
Lion football players are everywhere this winter!! Stay tuned to see what the Spring brings...
