The Orange Lions came into last Friday's game with one thing in mind: To get out with a victory no matter what it took. Well, what could have been a lopsided victory ended up being a battle for The Lions. The Orange Football Program is now battle tested and ready for week #10 and the history that it will bring.

The game started out with Geneva going down and scoring on a 9 play drive. It seemed as if The Orange defense was settling in and trying to figure out the Geneva wing-t offense. Geneva would not score again after that 9 play drive, turning the ball over to The Lions defense 5 time throughout the rest of the game.

The Orange Lions went into halftime down 0-7 searching for answers on offense. Coincidentally, The Lions coughed up the ball 4 times to the Geneva defense. Every time The Lions had momentum on offense, a turnover or penalty would stall their drive. Finally, in the 3rd quarter, Junior ILB Noah Klubnik forced a big fumble that was recovered by The Lions. That takeaway allowed Junior QB Sean Borgman to take control on the ground and ultimately score on a 2 yard run to put the game deadlocked at 7-7.

The 4th quarter brought a lot of drama as it became a defense battle. The Lions stifled Geneva, and Geneva did the same to The Lions. However, The Orange offense was able to get into position to kick a go ahead field goal putting The Lions up 10-7 with 4:50 left to go in the game. With the game on the line, The Lion defense stiffened and forced The Eagles into a 4th and long in which they could not convert, allowing The Orange offense to take a knee and end the game.

The Orange Lions (7-2, 5-1) will play host to their cross-town arch-rival "That Team Over There" or T.T.O.T (2-7, 0-6) this Friday night at 7pm in The Lion's Den. Throw out the records, this game always seems to be a battle to the end. The Lions are looking for #10 in a row against their rival in hopes of an 8-2 record and first playoff birth since 1988. Come out and support your Lions as they close out their 2017 regular season this Friday night! Go Lions!
