The Orange Lions demolish Painesville Harvey for Homecoming Victory!

Post date: Sep 18, 2017 1:33:46 PM

The Orange Lions came into Friday night with a chip on their shoulder looking to bounce back from last weeks loss. The CVC opener for The Lions proved to be productive, especially for Senior RB Jake Sonkin. Sonkin ended the game with 263 rushing yards and 1 touchdown while averaging an astonishing 20.2 yards per carry. The Orange Lions also received contributions on the ground from Senior RB David Pannell and an aerial attack led by Junior QB Sean Borgman and Sophomore WR Marvin Davies.

The Lion defense smothered the Red Raiders offense for the entire game with Junior LB Noah Klubnik leading the way with 13 total tackles. An interception by Senior FS Joey Fekete and a fumble recovery by Senior OLB Antonio Baez shut down any momentum and chance the Red Raiders had of scoring. Needless to say, it was very productive night on both sides of the ball for The Orange Lions.

This week, The Orange Lions (3-1, 1-0) travel to a cross town rival in Chagrin Falls (1-3, 1-0). The last time at Chagrin, The Lions defeated The Tigers for the first time in over 20 years. Last years close contest, and loss for The Lions has proven that this bitter rivalry has hit an all-time high. Both teams look to remain unbeaten in the CVC and instill themselves as the dominant program in this rivalry. Come out and support your Lions as they travel to Chagrin Falls this Friday night with kickoff at 7pm! See you there!
