The Orange Lions looked to remain unbeaten and go 3-0 to start the season for the second consecutive year. Despite struggling to stop the running attack of the CVCA Royals, The Lions prevailed. Led by Senior QB Stephen Borgman, who threw 4 TD passes, The Orange Lions had an answer for every touchdown scored by The Royals. The Lions received touchdown contributions from Senior WR Chris Von Hendrix and Juniors Ryan Singer and DaJuan White.
Late in the 4th quarter, The Orange Lions were looking to pull away when they went up 14 points as Borgman connected with Von Hendrix for a 73 yard TD. But the Royals would not be denied. They fought their way back and scored a TD with just under 2 minutes left in the game. After a failed onside kick, the Royals would recover a fumble as The Lions were looking to run time off of the clock.
Once again, The Orange Lion defense, who struggled all game, would need to make a stand and end the game. The motto of, "Find a Way," reigned true for the second straight week. Despite struggling to stop the run, The Lions defense forced CVCA into a passing situation and created a turnover for the second straight. The pass was broken up by Senior Outside Linebacker Frankie Regabluto, however; the ball went off of the receivers foot and back into the hands of Regabluto for the interception. The Lions were able to take a knee and escape with a win to remain unbeaten going into conference play.
The Orange Lions take their unbeaten 3-0 record into league play as they head to Painesville to take on Perry for their first road contest of the season. Kickoff is this Friday, September 19th, at 7pm. Make the travel to support your Orange Lions!
