Orange earned their first victory of the year on Friday as they went on the road, started fast, and defeated Bay 34-26. The Lions offense was rolling early. They scored on their first possession after the Lions defense forced a quick punt. The offense scored TDs on 5 of their first 7 possessions. The defense was strong early, but Bay's senior QB put a little twitch into the Lions as the game wore on. Seniors Kevin Mahone, Corey Thomas, and Grant Auletta led the Lion defense making plays all over the field.
Several Orange offensive records were broken or tied on Friday night. Junior receiver Chris Von Hendrix scored 2 TDs while piling up a record-tying 192 receiving yards on 11 catches. Junior QB Stephen Borgman showed that he is ready to improve on a stellar sophomore campaign. He completed a school-record 82% of his passes (29-35). He amassed a record 370 yards passing, breaking his old record from last year. He also tied his twice-achieved mark of 4 passing TDs in a game. Seniors Rayshawn Watkins and Rhonald Houston caught the other two TD passes.
Orange travels to neighborhood rival Beachwood on Saturday for a 1:00 matchup.
